The 40ft open side shipping container is the answer when loading through a 2.34m end doorway simply will not do. Instead of a single opening at one end, hinged door leaves run the entire length of one side and fold back to expose the full interior in one go — ideal for long, awkward or over-width items that could never be manoeuvred in from the end. Beneath that unusual door arrangement it remains a properly built shipping container: high-strength Corten steel, reinforced side posts and header, marine-grade plywood flooring and fully wind and watertight construction.
Key Features
- Full-length side doors that open along one entire side, giving direct access to every pallet position
- Reinforced door header, sill and corner posts so structural strength and stacking capability are retained
- Standard double cargo doors at one end as well, for conventional end loading
- High-strength Corten weathering steel construction with corrugated panels
- Wind and watertight, with continuous gaskets and multi-point locking across the side door leaves
- Marine-grade plywood flooring over steel cross-members, suitable for forklift traffic
- Hazmat-free and safety screened before it leaves our depot

Ideal For
- Storing long loads — timber, steel sections, pipework, scaffold and ladders
- Plant and machinery that has to be lifted in from the side by crane or telehandler
- Vehicle, boat and classic car storage where end access is impossible
- Trade counters, market stalls and event units needing a wide open frontage
- Workshops and exhibition builds that benefit from natural light and ventilation along one wall
Delivery Across the UK
Plan for clearance along the door side as well as the ends: the leaves need room to swing, so allow a working strip of at least a couple of metres beside the standing. We deliver nationwide, normally by tilt-bed onto firm, level ground, with HIAB crane offload available for restricted sites. Let us know which side the doors should face and the driver will orientate the container accordingly.
